A simple TRICK to SKIP youtube ADs - The url bug
A redditor on the reddit website posted a simple url trick to skip ads on youtube.
Some people go to all sorts of trouble preventing web advertisements and paywalls, whether that means downloading ad blockers or figuring out complicated workarounds. In certain instances, as it turns out, getting through such 'obstacles' is just as easy as adding a span to a list of websites.
Somebody posted a simple way to view YouTube videos in a web browser without any advertisements on the reddit. You just need to add an extra duration after the dot com in the YouTube link in the URL for any video you wish to watch.
So, If you’re NOT a Premium Subscriber of youtube, the url of your youtube videos will “youtube.com/yourvideo”
But if you’re a Premium Subscriber of youtube, the url goes like “youtube.com./yourvideo” like that. Did you saw that? The dot after “.com”? It’s that simple.
The redditor unicorn4sale, whom socialized the trick said;
“It’s a commonly forgotten edge case, websites forget to normalize the hostname, the content is still served, but there’s no hostname match on the browser so no cookies and broken CORS – and lots of bigger sites use a different domain to serve ads/media with a whitelist that doesn’t contain the extra dot”
The bug is mainly restricted to web browsers, but for the trick to work on your smartphone you can use the 'Request desktop Site' option.
Given that the trick is out there in the social media, there’s limited time to use the trick before it vanishes. Get in there & use it now. Hope you enjoy!
