Charging 0% to 50%, just in 5 Minutes? Seriously?
The latest Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 5 creates a new turning point in the charging devices. They promises to charge from 0 to 50% of battery under 5 minutes. Super cool huh?
Qualcomm launched Quick Charge 5, the new fast-charging standard for the company, and it brings some fantastic promises: more than 100W fast charging on a device, with the ability to charge a mobile from 0 to 50 percent in 5 minutes or to charge a device in 15 minutes to full, 100 percent. It's been a few years from Qualcomm launched its last major fast-charging standard, Quick Charge 4, but the current version represents the company's biggest move yet, at least in terms of sheer charging pace.
Qualcomm is not coy about how large this is of an improvement: the company claims that Quick Charge 5 is up to 70% more effective than Quick Charge 4, up to 4 times quicker while charging but still running 10 degrees cooler than the old version.
In addition, Quick Charge 5 leverages the existing USB Power Delivery Programmable Power Supply (PD-PPS) specification (a subset of the existing USB-C PD spec), which enables even greater control over voltage and current rates while charging. The benefit is that Quick Charge 5 is universal in principle-any USB PD-PPS adapter should be able to charge your Quick Charge 5 device at maximum speed.
The other big difference in this; is the fact that Quick Charge 5 is now supports 2S battery systems with two series wired battery cells, which allows to charge voltage to double. This in effect increases the charging velocities. It is also backward compatible, which is older Quick Charge accessories and devices will still work with new 5-rated Quick Charge hardware, although at the fastest speed these chargers can deliver.
From this, the greatest advantage of all is that it is part of Qualcomm 's overall parts kit that Fast Charge 5 is. Qualcomm is also now one of the biggest suppliers of processors and modems and lots of businesses are using its power solutions for simple compatibility.
