How Facebook were born?
Almost all of us know what is Facebook and every nook and corner of Facebook. But only few us knows how did Facebook first started
Facebook was first started in 2004
This social networking platform was made by a bunch of students of Harvard University, Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovits and Chris Hughes.
They were the students of the Computer science.
Before Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg invented a website called Facemash. In an interview with The Washington Post, Mark Zuckerberg talked about this Facemash. He said, “Facemash was a prank website that I launched in college, in mu dorm room, before I started facebook”
So according to this we can confirm that Facebook has named earlier as Facemash is completely a myth. This website was a type of “hot or not” game. Facemash was opened on October 23rd of 2003
In its first four hours online, Facemash attracted 450 visitors and 22,000 photo-views. The platform was shut down by the Harvard administration a couple of days later. Zuckerberg faced expulsion and was accused of breaching confidentiality, violating copyrights, and violating individual privacy by the administration. The charges were, eventually, dismissed.
Then again in 2004 January 11th they registered their website on the domain thefacebook.com. It was released on 2004 February 04th. During March of this year this website was expanded to most of the universities in Canada and USA.
More than 250,000 students from 34 schools had signed up by June 2004, and major businesses such as the credit card firm MasterCard began paying for exposure on the web the same year.
The Wall was introduced to a member's online profile by Facebook in September 2004. This commonly used feature allowed friends of a user to post data on their wall and became a key element in the network's social aspect.
Facebook had crossed one million active users by the end of 2004.
They registered their website as the domain facebook.com, which is now we are using, August 23rd of 2005. This was completely open for the public at least 13 years old with a valid email address.
This is how it was started and see what it has become. It is one of the mostly down apps.
This is completely a free app, and yet Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of the Facebook Company is one of the wealthiest people of the Earth. Most of the company’s income is gained by the advertisements on the Website.
